Quick Hit: “After Boston, One Foot in Front of the Other”

Our own Chloe has a powerful essay up at The Nation on the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing. She reflects on her friend Anthony’s rehab after he lost one of his legs below the knee in Kandahar Province, her own experience of pushing her body, and the strength the runners have already proven. My favorite part, though, is her reflection on the ethical ambiguity of benefiting from military research:

Unlike Anthony, those runners didn’t sign up knowing there was a risk of explosions. And unlike Anthony, they won’t have access to the kind of high-level and long-term medical care that many soldiers and veterans receive. But many of them will be able to walk again. Many of them will ...

Happy Birthday Chloe!

Today is our girl Chloe’s birthday! Chloe joined the Feministing team in 2009 as our interviews contributor, creating the super popular Feministing Five series, which she’s now passed on to Anna. Since then, she’s moved over to the more general blogging side. Chloe’s also been doing big things away from the blog, including a ton of recent appearances on the Melissa Harris-Perry Show. Yeah, totally badass.

I can always count on Chloe to bum me out about my favorite rom coms like a good feminist, ...

Seriously though, I don’t doubt that every feminist in America was freaking over this past weekend’s debut of Melissa Harris-Perry’s new show on MSNBC, which was — not surprisingly — fantastic. And as a bonus, our very own Chloe was invited to come play, and rocked it big-time. Here’s a segment on the birth control debacle:

“I have an aspirin between my legs so I can’t get pregnant until the end of this show.” Amazing.

Check out any missed segments here, and MHP’s blog for updates on the show. Can’t ...

Congrats Chloe, New Feministing Editor!

We’re thrilled to announce that the editorial team at Feministing has invited our dear friend and co-blogger Chloe Angyal to join us as our newest Feministing Editor!

Chloe has been blogging for Feministing since August of 2009, when we brought her on to be our interviews contributor, soon thereafter inviting her as a regular contributor. Her raw, personal writing style and incredible wit has been a huge asset to Feministing and we’re ridiculously excited for her to bring her skills and general awesomeness to the editorial crew.

An integral part of Feministing’s mission is to showcase and propel young feminist voices, and we’re so happy to have such a strong voice as Chloe’s be one of many in Feministing’s ...
