The emoji revolution continues. We finally got racially diverse emojis. An official taco one is coming down the pike. (Thank god.) And last week, sexting start-up Flirtmoji released a set of diverse, colorful, realistically asymmetrical vagina emojis that I adore.

Apple rejects satirical app that exposes politicians who are against repro rights

Comedian Lizz Winstead, co-creator of The Daily Show and vocal reproductive rights advocate, recently created Hinder, a satirical app that shows you which politicians are trying to limit access to birth control, abortion, and sex education in your state.

Navajo language is in, racist language towards Native Americans is out

Things aren’t going so great these days when it comes to representations of Native Americans in mainstream media: the Washington Redskins’ are still refusing point blank to change their very racist name. Jamilah King over at Colorlines points out that,

Tech and video game industry sexism: bathroom lines and rape jokes

Apple and Microsoft are both currently throwing big conferences, one for tech industry developers and one to sell video games. The conferences of these two giant companies are giving us an eye into some common-place sexism.

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is currently taking place in San Francisco. Yesterday Dan Ackerman tweeted this photo from the conference, which says a lot about the gender imbalance in the tech industry:

Meanwhile, Microsoft is hosting E3, their annual gaming expo, in Los Angeles. Apple’s Siri overcompensates for previous abortion ignorance

Remember last week when the world discovered that Apple’s Siri is suspiciously clueless about reproductive health?

It all started with a post at the Abortioneers by someone describing lots of weird, vague, and surprisingly unhelpful answers to some pretty basic questions about repro health, and abortion specifically. In a particularly egregious one, when told, “I’m pregnant and I don’t want to be” Siri reported, “I don’t see any abortion clinics” in an area known to have several.

Then Jill Filipovic wrote a devastating follow up piece calling Siri a “total misogynist” and outlined some additional repro health-related blindspots.
