The good wife: Anne Sinclair is leaving DSK

Anne Sinclair, the wife of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is reportedly leaving him. The final straw for her seems to have been DSK’s alleged involvement in a prostitution network now under criminal investigation.

Sinclair, a former top TV current affairs presenter and multi-millionaire heiress to an art empire has been relatively quiet, if implicitly supportive of her husband since he was charged with allegations of sexual assault against Nafissatou Diallo, a woman a hotel worker at the Sofitel in New York.

From the Telegraph:

Friends of the couple told Le Figaro Anne has had it with his “pathetic” behavior and is looking into  or separation, as well as demanding that he pay back the hundreds of thousands of dollars she spent to defend him against the charges leveled at him.

Now, as much coverage as there has been of DSK, the spouses of men who are thusly accused are often find themselves in a “dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t” scenario. Stand by your man and you’re a good wife with no clear convictions of your own. Leave him, and you’re a selfish person who leaves their husband when he’s down. There’s really no winning here. And given the rousing support DSK has gotten in France since he was charged here in the US, I can just imagine what awaits Ms. Sinclair.
