Transformers 2….is ridiculous.

Alright, I’m sure tons of you have seen it, or heard your friends rave about it or whine for hours on end about it…Transformers 2. (Don’t read this if you haven’t seen it?)

I’ll admit, I am not necessarily a Transformers person- I’ve never seen the first one, and I only went to see the 2nd one because of the awesome action scenes and graphics and all that jazz. I kind of expected lots of sexist-ish stuff in it- especially the way my friends talked about Megan Fox- let me tell you, I was appalled. And movies don’t usually bother me.

My biggest beefs:

1) The udder lack of female representation in the military- the U.S.
military plays a huge role, yet I saw maybe 2 women in military? It was
a big, white-male, macho party. (Ok, there were a few black
guys….just very few.)

2) Every single female in Shia’s college experience was super skinny,
straight-haired and wearing a short skirt or short shorts.

3) The mother was portrayed as a housewife…a blubbering, stupid,
ridiculous, frantic housewife. How lovely. I think I was actually more
disgusted with the audience’s laughter at her behavior.

4) The girl at college that was actually a bad guy- I was SO ANGRY. Of
course the female that everyone wants to do is a creepy demon-like
monster. I was ridiculously disturbed by the choice to make a female
temptress-type-thing. It just reminds me of Christianity’s blame of
women for the fall into sin.

I think thats the biggest 4. I did enjoy the movie— the parts with
actual fighting and transforming. This movie was way to sexualized- and
it was only the women. If you are going to see it…just be prepared to
be slightly perturbed.
