Hillary Rodham, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the “choices” women make

Everyone seems to agree that it’s way too early to be talking and writing and pontificating and prognosticating about the 2016 election, and everyone also seems to be unable to stop themselves. Unsurprisingly, I find myself in that Venn Diagram that is a circle.

Carly Fiorina thinks voters are stupid & her candidacy neutralizes GOP “war on women”

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is the latest Republican to officially throw her hat into the presidential ring. As ThinkProgress notes, it looks like Fiorina’s campaign strategy will be to position herself as Hillary Clinton’s kryptonite, her mere presence capable of neutralizing the Republican “war on women.”

Rand Paul

Rand Paul says first female president is no biggie because women are “kicking butt”

I’d say a good strategy for the Dems at this stage in the 2016 presidential race would be to just keep asking Rand Paul to talk about women. Here he is attempting to brush off the significance of potentially electing a woman to the presidency for the first time in this nation’s history.

Guess which conservative says Hillary Clinton is unbeatable

We’ve probably all heard or said that Hillary Clinton would be a great candidate for president. But this Sunday, on Meet the Press, Newt Gingrich, in a rare moment of honesty, came out and said it:

If their [the Republicans'] competitor in ‘16 is going to be Hillary Clinton, supported by Bill Clinton and presumably a still relatively popular president Barack Obama, trying to win ...

Quick Hit: Hillary Clinton has already won the 2016 election

Ok, so not really. But according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, 57% of Americans would support her hypothetical 2016 presidential candidacy. Nope, that’s not a typo: in our supposedly hopelessly partisan country, most people like the idea of Hillary Clinton in the White House. Everyone also just thinks she’s great. From the Washington Post:

On both scores — personal popularity and job performance — Democrats are overwhelmingly supportive of the long-time party leader, as are around two-thirds of independents. Even sizable numbers of Republicans are on board here, particularly when it comes to rating how she is doing as secretary of state: 40 percent approve and 50 percent disapprove. (At last measure, barely 12 percent of GOP ...
