TRUMPTAPE

Trump is a sexual predator. I know it, you know it, we all know it.

Trigger Warning: sexual assault and harassment

Last week the Washington Post released a recording of Donald Trump telling Billy Bush that because of his fame, he could get away with doing anything to women including “grabbing them by the pussy” – otherwise known as assault. Today, a growing list of women have come out accusing the presidential hopeful of kissing or groping them without consent, hitting on children, and in one case raping a 13-year-old girl.

At this point I’d like to remind you that Donald Trump remains the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

When questioned about the tape during Sunday night’s debate, Trump responded to Anderson Cooper that though he did engage in “locker room talk” like that captured in the recording, he had not ever actually grabbed a woman in the way he described, nor forcibly kissed one.

Yesterday, Jessica Leeds told the world that in fact, he had. In the 1980’s, she sat next to Trump on a plane and during the flight he grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt. Rachel Crooks was 22 years-old when she alleges that Trump kissed her on the mouth after being introduced to her in an elevator at Trump Tower. Mindy McGillivray says she was 23 when he groped her.

Natasha Stoynoff was interviewing Trump and his wife Melania as part of her job writing for PEOPLE Magazine when he offered to show her a room in another part of the house. “I turned around, and within seconds he was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat,” she wrote in a piece for PEOPLE this Tuesday.

Jane Doe was 13 years-old when she says that she was raped by Donald Trump at a party at billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s house.

And the Republican Party is still endorsing this man to be our next president.

Donald Trump has been accused of raping, assaulting, and harassing women. Miss Teen USA beauty pageant contestants have come out saying that he used to walk into their dressing room when they – some of them as young as 15-years-old – were changing. There is video of 46-year-old Trump telling a 10-year-old girl that he will be “dating her in 10 years.”

If elected president, this man will have to attend a hearing for his alleged rape of a child just weeks before being sworn in.

Donald Trump has already threatened to ban all Muslims from entering the country, to build a wall to keep Mexicans out, and demonstrated that he is a misogynist, all of which should have been enough to lose the endorsement of any serious political party in the year 2016. But now he has proven to those who were choosing not to believe him that he will act on his bigotry.

This man is a sexual predator. It is far beyond time that the Republican Party retract their endorsement for this orange dumpster fire of a human who can be depended on to do nothing if not to double down on a political and justice system that treats women and people of color like less than human.

AllofUs2016 activists gather in front of Trump Towers in NYC.

Women and marginalized folks who have been a target of his incessant racism and bigotry know this, and they are taking action to demand better from our political system. On Tuesday of this week, dozens of young women and femmes with AllofUs2016 risked arrest by occupying the Republican National Committee’s headquarters in D.C., demanding that party chairman Reince Priebus and House Speaker Paul Ryan unendorse their nominee.

“As a survivor of sexual assault, the idea that we actually have someone who’s a sexual predator who could be just a second away from being president is absolutely disgusting to me,” organizer Natalie Green told Think Progress. Both Green and Ambar Pinto, an undocumented immigrant, spoke about their serious concern with a man who has targeted so many aspects of their identities.

The next day, 60 more activists formed a human chain around Trump Towers in New York City, calling on elected officials to withdraw their support for the nominee. Participants chanted “Trump thinks he runs this town, pussy came to shut it down,” and held signs saying “Pussies in formation.”

Yesterday Reina reminded us that “either you believe that every single human being has a fundamental right to live free from violence, or you’re full of crap.” I think we know the side on which this man falls.

Trump, this is where you get off. The party is over, you are done. People with pussies, immigrants, Black people, Muslims, and people with disabilities are grabbing it back.
