Happy Birthday Maya!

Today is Maya’s birthday!

Maya Dusenbery is Feministing’s Executive Director of Editorial, which means she has the big responsibility of overseeing the content that goes up on this site every day. If you’ve noticed a major uptick in brilliant, well-edited thought pieces recently, and that shorter posts are extra snappy and powerful, that’s down to Maya’s leadership. Maya keeps the site compelling, relevant, and strong. She’s a wonderful editor to work with — the crew consistently comments that she gives feedback that makes our writing better while preserving the integrity of our voices. Maya, Lori Adelman, and myself stepped into leadership here at Feministing last August, and getting to work so closely with these two ladies is one of ...

Happy Birthday Suzanna!

Today is Suzanna’s birthday!

Suzanna Bobadilla is our new interviews contributor. She’s been posting great conversations, including ones with Samantha Geimer, author and the woman caught in the firestorm of the Polanski rape case, writer and organizer Suey Park, Senator Gretchen Whitmer, Sunny Clifford, the subject of Young Lakota, Anna Saini from The Red Umbrella Diaries, planetary scientist Sara Seager, Law and Order: SVU star Mariska Hargatay, and our former Executive Editor Samhita.

Suzanna’s also one of the badass organizers working to end campus sexual assault who have gotten the federal government, including the White House, to take action.

Here’s some fun facts about Suzanna: ...

Happy birthday Alexandra!

This coming weekend our own Alexandra Brodsky is celebrating her birthday. We’re so glad she came into this world, and even more glad that she entered our So You Think You Can Blog contest a year and half ago.

These days, Alexandra juggles being an editor at Feministing and leading a nationwide movement to end campus sexual assault that’s gotten the attention of very important people like Amy Poehler and the President of the United States. And I hear she somehow still has time to attend Yale law school too.

Happy (belated) birthday Vero!

This past weekend, our own Verónica Bayetti Flores celebrated her birthday!

In her relatively short time with Feministing thus far, Vero, who currently works at the Civil Liberties and Public Policy program, has done some wonderful writing on immigration, reproductive justice, and queer politics. She offered a thoughtful and nuanced reflection on call-out culture in activist communities. She sparked quite a lot of disucssion with her analysis of Lorde’s song “Royals.” And we’re super excited that she’s just launched our new “Feministing Jamz” music feature.

Some fun facts you may not know about Vero: She was born and raised in Venezuela and came to the US permanently at the age of 12, trading the lime and ...
