Quick Hit: The Nice Guys of OKCupid

Surely even the most brilliant parody of Nice Guy syndrome can’t compete with the real things said by self-proclaimed “nice guys.” And OkCupid is clearly the best environment to watch them in action. Check out the new Tumblr “Nice Guys” of Okcupid to see their utter lack of self-awareness on full display. (Spoiler: Being “friendzoned” is apparently the worst thing in the whole world.)

I am stifling the urge to “defiantly” message him.

I was on this tumblr yesterday. Be sure to go back far enough to see the “Are you a “nice guy”?” flow chart.

Yeah, that flowchart. “are woman obligated to do anything?”

Yes, yes they are. They are obligated to pay their taxes. They are obligated to call the hospital if they see someone have a heart attack. They are obligated to stick around if they get into a serious car accident. They have countless obligations.

But from the chart it seems answering “yes” is a bad thing.

This person is just a bully.

And it’s awfully stereotyping to put up a tumblr painting all nice guys as secret misogynists and creeps. Imagine if someone put up a tumblr of women who claim to want equality but then have posts that suggest they really hate men? Would that be perfectly okay? Well, we’ve got a way to go, don’t we.
