Can’t take the trauma anymore…

I’m in a tremendous amount of pain these days due to a long history of male-inflicted trauma I have experienced over a period of many years.  Sometimes I feel as if I’m the only woman who has ever dealt with such heinous behavior from men.  It really helps me to read about experiences that other women have gone through that are just as bad or even worse than mine.  It helps me to see that I’m not alone and that there is obviously some kind of huge gender or social problem at play here that isn’t being addressed.  I guess this is just a vent for me right now, but here’s a breakdown of what I’ve been through that is causing me to hate and destroy myself these days:

Please Support My New Website and Feminist Work

I’m posting this as sort of a little shameless self-promotion.   I am in the process of revamping my website, and I wanted to invite as many feminists as possible to view it.  Last year, I held a state beauty pageant title and I was one of the first pageant queens to promote a platform on reproductive choice.  And I was THE FIRST pageant queen to ever publicly talk about having had an abortion.

Although I do not currently hold any titles, I still maintain my website in order to promote my favorite charity organizations and charity projects that I am currently working on as well as educate the public on issues such as reproductive choice, abortion stigma, sexual assault, ...

I’m a woman who hates men

I admit it–I’m a feminist who hates men. I feel nothing but revulsion, disgust, and distrust for men. I’m that type of woman everyone makes stereotypical jokes about.

I haven’t always hated men. I used to have a high sex drive, and I wanted to get married and have children and a family of my own just like everyone else I knew. In fact, deep down I still wish I could do those things. But I know that just won’t be possible. I didn’t start hating men because I was a feminist who was angry at men for having more rights and privileges than me or because I think women are better than men.  I began hating them because they outright HURT ...

Miss Illinois is the first beauty queen to promote a platform on women’s reproductive rights!

A few months ago, the Ms. Magazine posted an article about the Miss America Pageant discussing why more women aren’t protesting the pageant on the grounds that it is sexist and that the contestants are brainless beauties who only push Conservative “safe” issues for their platforms like abstinence-only sex-education, cancer prevention, world peace, etc. I’m sure many people recall Miss California Carrie Prejean’s public stance on “traditional marriage” and Miss America 2002 Erika Harold’s platform on abstinence-only-until-marriage. A few blog commentators even asked the question “Where are the pageant queens who would dare to promote a platform on abortion, birth control, and comprehensive sex-education?” That seems to be a question that more people are ...

Stop labeling women as “psychos”!!!

I’ve been waiting for the new website layout to be completed so that I could post this long-awaited topic. It’s something that has been driving me nuts lately (no pun intended), it’s time that it was addressed and discussed, and I’m wondering if anyone else out there has dealt with this same stupid issue.

Frankly, I’m tired of myself and women in general being labeled as “psycho” or “crazy” by men whenever we get upset about something or voice our opinion on something. In my own experiences, I can’t really do or say ANYTHING without being labeled as “crazy” by the men-folk. I’ll give you some examples: I’ve had a few men cheat on me, lie to me repeatedly, or do ...
