A woman is going to grace the new $10 bill… Yay?

Jack Lew, the Secretary of the Treasury, announced this week that Alexander Hamilton will be moving aside as the face of the $10 bill to make room for a woman. Literally, he’ll be sharing the spotlight with the unannounced woman starting in 2020, to mark 100 years since the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.

You might remember our coverage of the Women on 20s campaign, which sought to replace Andrew Jackson on the cover of $20 bills with an influential woman. Harriet Tubman was the winner of their widely circulated poll (there has been some great commentary as to why that would not have been the best idea). I, for one, hope that Tubman isn’t in the running to spend the rest of eternity rubbing cheeks with Alexander Hamilton. She doesn’t deserve that.

We’ll find out the identity of the new face of by the end of the year. You can count on me to spend it all the same*. Having a woman on the cover of a bill isn’t going to change the economic status of women around the world.

In the meantime, if you just can’t stand to look at Hamilton any longer, here are a few things you can buy for under $10:

Dildos

Nerd paraphernalia

Toilet paper that looks like money

*Unless Beyoncé makes it on there (which would make the most sense given that she knows more about money than most people), in which case I’ll try to hold on to it.
