Mother daughter love in Dia de los Muertos short film

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is fast upon us, and this short film from KQED has me teary-eyed over what a beautiful time of the year this is. I love having this moment to reflect on those who paved the way for me in this life, a chance to eat great food, surround myself with colors, and cherish my loved ones just a little more. I also appreciate it as an opportunity to be very thoughtful about the difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation, and to foster learning and exchange among diverse communities.

Juliana only just learned that Dia de los Muertos may have originally evolved from a celebration of the Aztec goddess of the underworld, Mictecacihuatl.
