bellies are hot, but only if you’re a man

(WARNING: rant ahead)
ok, so i apologize if i’m late on this issue but i’m so fucking annoyed with the whole “pot bellies are sexy” thing. why? becuase it only applies to men! according to slate.com, the reason why 6-packs are out are because…
are you ready for this?
Aaron Hicklin, editor of Out, explains that the six-pack abs obsession has become “so prissy it stopped being masculine.”
ok, GIANT WTF here – so working out is exclusively masculine now? do women not work out? and why is it ok for MEN to have the belly and not WOMEN?

the article goes on to quote fabienne from pulp fiction about pot bellies being sexy on women, but does not lend their own opinion on the subjet. in fact, they give NO opinion on the subject of bellies on women – they just quote the girl, and that’s it.
so, when men say “fuck it, it’s too much to work – too much of an obsession” not only are they applauded, but they get fucking msn.com front page articles about it. i mean, this was a link from the “top story” section. i hardly find a dude with a gut a top story.
look, it’s great to see a tiny chunk of american culture embracing a chubby physique, but its positivity is only directed at men. it’s just so frustrating. when a women declares that she’s sick of dedicating countless hours to her body and is going to stop, no one applauds her! no one gives her a fucking top story! in fact, in most cases it’s quite the opposite!
sorry for all the exclamation points, but this whole “male belly obsession” makes me want to put my head through the computer. am i wrong for being so fucking irritated?
