Happy birthday, Dana!

Dana Bolger is an editor at this site and executive director of a national non-profit. She’s been published in the New York Times and has testified before the Senate and House.

Oh, and on Saturday she turned 25.

Dana’s obviously super, super impressive, and I can’t wait to see what she does with her next 25 years. But I’m not just celebrating a quarter century of this girl on earth for her resume. I raise my glass to her unshakeable dedication to survivors of gender violence. To the handmade cards she sends to friends in need of a pick-me-up. To her monthly re-reading of The Argonauts. To her really great hair.

I’ve felt really lucky as Dana’s friend and colleague to benefit from her critical, empathetic thinking. Make sure not to miss Dana’s writing on conservative co-optation of anti-gender violence concerns to promote transphobia, gun violence, and criminalization; anniversaries of violence; media condescension to young feminists; student activism; misogynistic halloween costumes; and the erasure of dating violence survivors in public discussion of campus violence.

Wish Dana a happy birthday!
