Tweet of the Day: @JamilahLemieux on the contradictions of shaming strippers

When rappers Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa verbally sparred on Twitter earlier this week, it didn’t take long for Kanye to slut-shame his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose as a way to insult Wiz (her ex-husband). It was a low blow, one he’s taken before, and no one was here for it.One of Kanye’s tweets said included “you let a stripper trap you.” Ebony magazine senior editor, Jamilah Lemieux had some great and simple insight on the contradiction of using Amber Rose’s former profession against her.

Kanye West met and began dating Amber Rose not long after she put her stripper days behind her. And it was Amber’s decision to end the relationship. Had Kanye been a better boyfriend, it isn’t unlikely that he could have also been the father of her child. Therefore it seems a bit outlandish that he’d use that as ammunition in an argument against another person.

But then again, there isn’t usually any rhyme or reason to slut shaming.
