Feministing Jamz: Ana Tijoux’s “Antipatriarca”

The music video to accompany Feministing favorite Ana Tijoux’s feminist anthem has finally been made and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for and more. Created from an international open call for submissions, the video shows women breastfeeding, working, signing, cooking, singing, protesting –doing everything it takes to survive and thrive in the fight against patriarchy. The song is reminiscent of Calle 13’s “Latinoamérica,” an anthem for Latin American social movements and features similarly rough quality shots of diverse people in urban and rural settings throughout the Americas.

“Antipatriarcia” is like a new, feminist love letter to Latin America. You’ll walk away from it with the deep confidence that, with time, our work will pay off, and we will finally dismantle the racist, colonialist and misogynistic structures that hold us hostage.
