Watch: Sports anchor quotes Audre Lorde in support of gay football player Michael Sam

Seriously, watch Dale Hansen of Dallas-Fort Worth’s ABC affiliate take down the hypocrisy of conservatives who are “uncomfortable” with the prospect of a gay player in the NFL. And be sure to get all the way to the glorious end when Hansen drops some Audre Lore on his viewers: “It is not our differences that divide us. It’s our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”

Hansen has a record of being awesome. During the Penn State sex abuse scandal, he spoke out against the way such crimes stay “hidden in the darkness” and talked about being a survivor of sexual assault himself. I’m with the Dallas Observer: “The world needs more old white guys like WFAA’s Dale Hansen.”
