Facebook chat on the media’s representation of the female body

suzannelacy_biopage2This month, Creative Time and the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum will present Between the Door and the Street, by the artist and writer Suzanne Lacy. On October 19, “some 300 women and a few men–all selected to represent a cross-section of ages, backgrounds, and perspectives–will gather on the stoops along a residential street in Brooklyn, where they will engage in unscripted conversations about a variety of issues related to gender politics today. Wander among the groups, listen to what they are saying, and form your own opinions!”

There are also Facebook chats about issues related to the work. You can join one today right now (from 1 to 2). The discussion focuses on what we do about the media portrayal of the female body.

The next Facebook  chat will be on October 16 and will look at how immigration affects women.
