Donald Trump trolls again, this time on military sexual assault

We reported on this yesterday but I wanted to follow up since Donald Trump is unfortunately not alone in his ignorance. So despite our wishes that he just stop talking we must continue to highlight his comments because  they provide us with an opportunity to say it one more time loud and clear: there is nothing inevitable about rape. Rape is a crime perpetuated by rapists, not something ‘natural’ that happens when you put men and women in the same room together or something that extends out of hookup culture. That is a viewpoint that misunderstands the fundamental concept of rape, and is insulting to men, women, and the entire human race. It is also a viewpoint that creates a culture in which sexual assaults are denied and ignored and explained away and how the women who report them are punished rather than the men who perpetrate them. So no Donald, you are still wrong and terrible but thanks for the chance to set the record straight.
