What We Missed

Today is the birthday of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She is the second woman to sit on the Supreme Court, she is a total freaking bad ass, and sometimes, I just want to hug her.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett insists that his state’s mandatory ultrasound isn’t forcing women to look at ultrasound images of the fetus: “I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes.” Anyone else get the sense that he’s super bummed he can’t legally force you to keep your eyes open?

Slate interviews cartoonist Garry Trudeau about this week’s controversial strip.

“Q: What do you consider the most overrated virtue? A: That’s easy: chastity.” That’s Rachel Maddow, folks.

The New York Times and The Gothamist weigh in on the GOP’s reluctance to renew the Violence Against Women Act.
