What We Missed

Image of Hermione reads: Because our culture marginalizes the experiences and perspectives of women, this book is called "Harry Potter" even though I saved Harry's butt a hundred times.

Feminist Harry Potter (the above submission is from our girl Chloe).

“We have now reached a point in history where there are more women in the Thai sex industry being abused by anti-trafficking practices than there are women exploited by traffickers.”

On birth justice and ending shackling of incarcerated women during birth.

Another satirical reproductive health bill, this one from Ohio: “Before getting a prescription for Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs, men would have to see a sex therapist, receive a cardiac stress test and get a notarized affidavit signed by a sexual partner affirming impotency.”

I have to say the most moving Feminist Harry Potter submission for me was this one, also by Chloe:

The first time I saw that scene in the film, I wanted to throw my shoe at the TV. I’ve seen so many like it before and now Harry Potter was breathing new life into the idea that men can’t be sexually assaulted or molested by women. They can only be grossed out by the advances of ugly/old/frumpy/nerdy/uncool women.
