Foo Fighters counter-protest the Westboro Baptist Church in song form

The Westboro Baptist Church, in their continuing quest to piss off everyone ever, decided to protest a Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City. No, I don’t really understand why the Foo Fighters feature prominently among the people God hates – probably because the promo for their current tour is super gay.

The band decided to organize their own counter-protest, and the results are awesome:

Lyrics here.

The haters actually look like they’re enjoying the show. Bet there’s a lot of Foo Fighters fans who are jealous of these bigots right now.

Damn do the Westboro Baptist church have to protest everything?

Back in the day Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl routinely locked lips at the end of shows to protest homophobia and be generally subversive.

Maybe that’s why? Lord knows why the Westboro Cult protests anything. Their ultra-paranoid leader probably imagines someone else wants to destroy his movement.

‘Women loving women! We all know we love to watch that!’

Catering to the male gaze= FAIL.

I don’t know, in the middle of a performance as campy as this that line got a pretty big laugh for me.

No Dave Grohl is too smart for that. He wasn’t catering to the male gaze. He just said that to point out the hypocrisy behind most hetero cis gendered homophobic guys who still show extreme fascination/obsession for lesbians. You know there were some Westboro protesters out there who probably yelled a resounding “Hell yeah” at that comment. And then looked around to make sure no one heard their libidos betray their bullshit “ideals”, if they can be called that.
