Rape Jokes and Slut-Shaming on Facebook

So recently I was bored and decided to go on Facebook to just let time slide by. Now if you’re like me on Facebook, you just start going on a Like spree and you start adding a bunch of random pages and groups just because you’re bored and a Facebook group had a witty little title that made you giggle so you choose to like it. Well I noticed a page called Sexual Assault is Not A Punchline and I decided to join because well, it’s true. Sexual assault isn’t a joke and the one that that strikes a nerve in me is when people think that it’s a joke. So I join and I decide to go through the discussion boards and they had a topic for pages to report. So I look through them and was shocked at how many sites there was that showed outright hate towards women. I will post just a few pages but I feel like I should warn that these sites are very triggering because a few of them support and condone violence and hate towards women.

Shut Up You Filthy Skank – What’s so funny about this page is that in their info section, they talk about fighting the filth of “skanks” and how you shouldn’t let a “skank” go near you unrecognized or unpunished. But what is hilarious is that there is a disclaimer telling you not to actually harm a “skank” because that type of violence is disgusting. But I guess it’s not disgusting to make a page to call out “skanks” and make jokes about harming them. But actually doing it is just plain wrong.

Hating Assbook E-Mail Whores – This one is the most gruesome and it honestly made me puke in my mouth. I urge you not to look through this page if you are easily triggered because when I clicked it, I was not prepared for what I found. This page is disgusting due to the fact that it openly promotes violence against women as well as harmful messages that it’s ok for “sluts” to be killed and there are other messages that promote girls to kill themselves. There are even photos that are extremely graphic and show images of girls getting things shoved down their throats as a way to kill them and even a photo that shows a girl being stabbed. Why this is still on Facebook is beyond me.

Uppercutting Sluts – This is another page that promotes violence against women. Plenty of the comments on the page are by the creator who promotes people to find “sluts” and harm them as well as even saying in a comment that says to kill them all. I doubt the person is serious but even using this as a joke is still harmful.

Cleaning Foundation off Your Sword After a Hard Day of Hunting Sluts – What makes me shocked about this page is the number of people on here that actually found the page amusing. Call me uptight or whatever you want to call it but there is nothing funny or awesome about a page that promotes “slut hunting” and violence against women or people in general. As I skim through these pages, I just wonder what made these people want to put these pages up. Why does a woman’s sex life interest them so much and in some cases, make them angry?

Chasing Lesbians With Your Cock Out to Show Them What Their Missing Out On – The title is pretty much speaks for itself. It even is more disturbing if you click the link and see the display picture for the page. I can’t even see what is so amusing by pretty much saying that you’re a pervert who believes that harassing women is okay.

R A P E is Only Surprise Sex – When I went to this page, I was pretty relieved that people were already calling out the creator about making something so light about a serious issue. What was funny to me was that the creator actually put in the info that the page is just a joke and that people need to stop being so touchy. I wonder how people like this can’t expect people to be sensitive and take this personal when rape is such a serious issue among women and I must say it’s one among men is well. If it hasn’t personally happened to us, it’s a high chance it’s happened to someone we know. It’s never a joke.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Slut, Close Your Legs You Filthy Mutt – This page is just crazy to me. What I found strange is that the page is created to encourage “sluts” to keep their legs closed. My question was, why are you so concerned about who is sleeping with who. Me personally, I have too many worries in my own life to worry about what someone else is doing. But thankfully the page tells us why they want “sluts” to stop sleeping around. I guess “sluts” are doing nothing but ruining lives and there needs to be fewer of them in the world because, that’s what our biggest problem is in our country right now. Sluts.

Duct Tupe, Shutting Bitches Up Since 1942 – The title says it all. What shocks me is that people are actually commenting this page and saying it’s the best page ever made on Facebook. It makes you really worry about humanity.

There’s plenty more pages on Facebook like these which is very scary. I don’t understand why people think it’s okay to attack women physically or emotionally or why people think it’s okay to attack a human being in general. I also wonder what motivates a person to sit down on a computer and decide to make pages such as these. I also can’t understand why people would even join these pages and find them amusing. What is amusing about rape jokes and slut-shaming jokes. I feel these pages and even sites such as these (because they are out there) should be put on blast and the people that support and make these pages should be called out.
