Netroots Nation 2011: Immigration reform through a queer lens

Netroots Nation Minneapolis: June 2011This video comes from a session during the LGBT pre-conference focused on immigration. We had the chance to hear from DREAM activists, some of the bravest, most innovative folks I know. These young people put their own safety on the line, coming out as undocumented to put a personal face to this issue. These activists need to be supported by organizers and leadership across movements, especially since law enforcement has been working to deport DREAMers, and so we can actually see the DREAM Act pass.

When you have some time, check out this video of Tania Unzueta, Reyna Wences, Juan Rodriguez and Felipe Matos talking about intersections between coming out as undocumented and queer. Thanks to Carlos A. Quiroz for the video.

(I apologize for the lack of transcript for this long video.)
