Happy birthday to us!

Today is Feministing’s 7th birthday!

On this day back in 2004, Jessica and Vanessa founded Feministing.com. Today we are the world’s most-read feminist publication, and home to a vibrant online feminist community.

There’s been a lot of blogging, a lot of activism, and a fair bit of cursing and drinking, too (what would feminism be without the cursing and the drinking?) We are thrilled that you readers are out there, reading and commenting and engaging with the issues we write about every day.

Feministing, as you know, is a labor of love; we don’t do it for the money, we do it because it matters to us and because it brings us satisfaction and joy (and sometimes it brings us a world of trouble but mostly it brings satisfaction, joy and a sense that we have a chance to change the world in our own small ways). Thanks, readers, for hanging out with us here, for engaging with our writing and for pushing back when you don’t agree with us.

Oh, and if April 12th is your birthday too, happy birthday!

Lots of love,

The Feministing Crew.
