An Open Letter to Christine O’Donnell

Dear Ms. O’Donnell,

I apologize in advance for the curt demeanor of this letter, but it is imperative that you understand the following: You are not me. First, I think it is a bit presumptuous for you to say or think that you are anyone other than yourself. Second, if you went to Washington, you would not do what I’d do. Why are you not me? And, what would I do if I went to Washington? Let me explain.

You are anti-choice. I am pro-choice.

You are in favor of abstinence-only sex education. I am pro-comprehensive sex education.

You are anti-gay marriage. I am pro-gay marriage.

You believed that China is plotting to take over America. I do not believe China is plotting to take over America.

You are anti-masturbation. I am pro-masturbation.

You do not believe condom use prevents HIV/AIDS. I know correct condom use prevents HIV/AIDS.

You are against the UN’s Millennium Goals. I am in support of the UN’s Millennium Goals.

You are anti-pornography. I am pro-sex-positive pornography.

You believe in “sexual purity.” I believe in the “purity myth.”

You support and are supported by Sarah Palin. I do not support Sarah Palin or her policies.

You are sex-negative. I am sex-positive.

So, Ms. O’Donnell, if you go to Washington, you will not do what I would do. You would fight against everything I believe is just and right. Therefore, you are not me, so please, stop pretending you are.

Sincerely, Tracey
