A Transman, A Feminist?

My name is Max. I’m a feminist.

I am also a transman. Temporarily putting complex gender questions of male vs. female vs. genderqueer vs. etc…, I am curious to ask about the perceived role of male-identified feminists within feminism.

As a female-bodied, male-identified feminist who is transitioning from female-to-male (FTM), I thought it would be fitting to ask Feministing.com readers what their thoughts were on the subject of male-identified feminists and their roles in feminism after attending an event by Jessica Valenti at SUNY Brockport. She included, among others, men and transgender individuals in feminism.

What are your thoughts?

Are there roles for male-identified feminists in feminism? Are male-identified persons welcomed often within feminism? If so, what roles are most important for male-identified feminists?
