Congresspeople

I would be very interested in engaging in a little bit of an experiment.  I called my [conservative] representative a few months ago to ask what this supposed terrible evil “pro homosexual agenda” is that he is so terrified of.  The aide I spoke with stuttered and couldn’t answer.  I called again a month later, the aide I then spoke with still could not answer (granted, she at least said this with full sentences).  I told her that next time I called, I expected an answer.

Apparently the answer is teh evil gay marriage destroying family values.  (Granted, I’m not surprised that this is the response I got).  Then I tried asking why.  The word “sanctity” was invoked, which I jumped on.  I read to the aide from the dictionary – sanctity means “holiness, godliness” – how is this not religious?  So, I asked if the representative believed in separation of church and state.  Apparently he does…and apparently in his twisted mind using “sanctity” in conjuction with trying to protect cis male – cis female marriage does not violate that logic.

Anyway, the experiment I am interested in (since I apparenty am one of the only people who has ever called my rep to ask about the pro-homosexual agenda) is (directed at US Americans):  If you have a conservative congressperson who invokes the phrase “pro-homosexual agenda”, how do they define it?

I, personally, wish that they would just get together already and release a document detailing this supposed threat, so that we can then tear it apart.

So, if you’re up for getting fuming (and shaking) mad as I just did after calling a conservative congressperson, I’d be super interested in hearing the responses their aides cough up.
