Why did TIME think this was a good idea?

I mean, it’s not “Hey you guys have you noticed that Chris Christie is like a big fat elephant?” bad, but I’m pretty sure it marks the official starting point for the next two years of talking about Hillary in the same old bullshit, sexist tone: she’s scary, she’s pushy, she’s stepping on men – guys, she is LITERALLY STEPPING ON A MAN IN THIS PHOTO – and oh, her high heels and her pantsuits.

The completely warranted if somewhat safe pick is accompanied by a lovely longform profile that manages to add new dimensions to a now well-worn story of Obama’s journey from Chicago community organizer to re-elected president and historical icon.The profile emphasizes the role that women, minorities, and young people played in electing Barack Obama both times.

is excited about its cover this week, a “take THAT!” response to the sensationalistic breast-feeding cover which graced Time last week. The Newsweek cover features an image Barack Obama, with a rainbow halo above his head. The headline is as nuanced as the graphic and reads “The First Gay President.” Here is the article behind the cover, by Andrew Sullivan.
