So, when is Sandra Fluke running for office?

Reproductive justice advocate Sandra Fluke spoke at the DNC last night and she was pretty impressive. She told the audience that what happened to her earlier this year – being shut out of a hearing on birth control provision exemptions for the health insurance plans provided by religious institutions – was just one more way that women get shut out of important conversations every day.

“Because it happened in Congress, people noticed,” she said. “But it happens all the time. Many women are shut out and silenced.”

She then reminded the audience that voting will be a choice between two visions of women’s rights. First, she talked policy, describing the GOP’s vision as:

The Wednesday Weigh-In: Sandra Fluke for President edition

In an interview yesterday, current feminist media darling and America’s de facto birth control spokesperson Sandra Fluke confessed that she’ds  been receiving requests to run for public office– and that it wasn’t something she had totally ruled out. Via HuffPo:

“Numerous American women have actually written to me in the last few weeks to say that I should run for office,” Fluke noted during a panel discussion on women’s history hosted by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.). “And maybe someday I will. But for now, I actually have to finish law school.”

While I appreciate the subversive quality of a “slut” slur catapulting a woman into a position of power, I’m not sure how to feel about ...

Leaked Limbaugh video: the shocking truth behind Rush’s apology to Sandra Fluke

As of Sunday, 98 advertisers have dropped Rush Limbaugh! This is despite Rush’s so called “apology” (or Rushology) to Sandra Fluke for his poor word choice. Perhaps not as many advertisers would have dropped Rush if there had been an ounce of sincerity in his apology. This video presents what the real Rush knows:  He’s not really sorry, he just doesn’t want to lose advertising.  He and the GOP hate women. And he’s the real “slut.”

Rush’s “I’m sorry for calling you a slut because it provoked a boycott” apology doesn’t stop AOL pulling advertising

So far, a total of eight companies– Carbonite, Citrix, Go To Meeting, Legal Zoom, ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, Sleep Number, Sleep Train and, as of today, AOL–have pulled advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show over the Viagra-popping hate jockey’s mysoginist statements about Sandra Fluke, which include calling her a slut and prostitute and imploring her to film herself having sex. The media is saying that Rush Limbaugh has apologized. But I don’t think the following is an apology, do you?

In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
