How many more times is the media going to fall for GOP Obamacare lies?

It’s like deja vu all over again! This week the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report with new analysis of the impact of Obamacare on the economy. The report, which analyzed the economic outlook from 2014-2024, concluded that Obamacare will cause a reduction in the labor force by the end of 2024. 2.3 million workers will drop out of the labor force either by deciding not to work or reducing their hours. Apparently, retiring early sounds a lot better than pulling double shifts at a thankless job so you can keep your health insurance.

The CBO concluded that: “The estimated reduction stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, ...

Rand Paul thinks poor moms should be punished for being poor

Senator Rand Paul may be emerging as the frontrunner for the 2016 Republican nomination, but we must never forget that he holds some of the most extreme policy positions imaginable. Whether it’s being against portions of the Civil Rights Act, being opposed to all abortions without exception, or his latest nonsense about benefits for poor mothers. For every moment where the Senator says something sensical about the war on drugs, there’s this kind of moment where you remember how far outside of the mainstream Senator Paul is.

Via Think Progress (emphasis added):

At a luncheon for the Chamber of Commerce in Lexington, KY, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) floated the idea of capping government benefits for ...

Mike Huckabee says Dems think women are helpless and “cannot control their libidos”

I tried and failed to come up with any commentary to add to this quote from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s speech today at the Republican National Committee. But I’m pretty sure it doesn’t need any.

Is Speaker Boehner ready to pass immigration reform?

Last year saw a lot of work on behalf of both the Administration and the Senate to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill – all the way from blueprints to drafts to a bill passed in the Senate. Throughout the year, though, the House appeared not to budge in its apparent commitment to inaction on immigration, leaving some folks wondering whether comprehensive immigration reform is dead in the water. But Speaker of the House John Boehner has recently made a hire that has folks getting hopeful that House Republicans will take some action on immigration sooner than later.

GOPers defend reality TV homophobe, are confused about First Amendment

So apparently there is a reality television show called Duck Dynasty, and one of the stars was suspended from the program for saying something homophobic. So naturally, the GOP is running to defend him. Wait what?

Republican Congressman busted for cocaine possession voted to drug-test food stamp recipients

You’ve probably heard about freshman Congressman Trey Radel, a Republican from Florida who was recently caught buying cocaine from an undercover cop in DC. But did you know he just voted to drug-test food stamp users?

Forget the headlines: Here are 5 fundamental facts about Obamacare (with bonus GIFs)

1. You have until December 15th to sign up.

I’m currently uninsured and I’ve gone onto the New York exchange to compare my options.  Like I’ve said before, I had 124 choices, so going through them is taking time.  But let’s be real: I’m probably going to be like this until the first deadline on December 14th:

And for people who are uninsured who want to avoid the $95 penalty, you have until March 31st to sign up.  Only the people who want coverage beginning on January 1st, have to sign up by December 15th.  We all procrastinate.  Most Americans will sign up at the very last minute.

The same New Jersey that re-elected Christie also voted to raise the minimum wage

New Jersey voted Tuesday to re-elect Chris Christie as Governor by an overwhelming margin.  Pundits are focusing on Christie’s win as a sign of a Republican resurgence, but the same electorate in New Jersey that voted for Christie, voted to raise the minimum wage.

Via Think Progress:

In New Jersey, the minimum wage, which was set at the federal floor of $7.25, will now rise by a dollar and the state constitution will be amended to include automatic increases tied to inflation. It is now the eleventh state to adopt automatic increases to the wage, standing in contrast to the federal government, where it hasn’t risen in four years. Over 60 percent of voters approved the measure.
