We all really need to stop caring about Lebron James’ mother’s sex life

Lebron James’ mother is dating a rapper who is only three years older than him, and who likes to publicly express admiration for the two-time NBA champion. This apparently threatens the collective ego of basketball fans around the country.

Since the Internet uncovered this guy, fans and haters have gleefully pointed to comments on the rapper’s Instagram account big-upping Lebron, calling him a “role model” before declaring that “life is about being positive”. They openly mock photos where he displays LeBron’s championship ring and models it for the camera (Deadspin helpfully points out that he “has to use two fingers” because the ring is too big on him).

Guy texts unsolicited dick pic, woman sends it to his mother, wins

Trevor, who is really good at flirting, likes to get women’s attention by flashing them:

The woman Trevor texted this time was not having it, though.

Trevor doesn’t see the big deal, and starts insulting this woman he’s apparently trying to hit on. New technology means new places to harass people, but it’s also given us new ways to fight back. Because dick pics are forever. This woman rocks.

Mama’s Day cards for the stereotype smashing mothers in your life

Mother’s Day originated as an anti-war event, but it’s been turned into a way to push a normative idea of motherhood – you know, the one you see in that isle of Hallmark cards every year. The Strong Families campaign has put together a collection of cards for mamas who don’t fit the image of a Betty Draper housewife in a perfect nuclear family. The goal of the campaign is to acknowledge the moms who are erased in the commercialized version of Mother’s Day – immigrant moms, queer moms, trans moms, moms of color, single moms, moms parenting in collectives, working moms – the list goes on.

New report on the treatment of mothers and pregnant women in U.S. prisons

Yesterday the National Women’s Law Center and the Rebecca Project for Human Rights released a new report, “Mothers Behind Bars,” on the treatment of pregnant and parenting women in U.S. state prisons. The picture the report paints—like most glimpses into our broken prison system—is not a pretty one.
