The president and first lady are a very likable couple with a number of cute public displays of affection to choose from. But I have now discovered my favorite! In a recent interview with People, Michelle Obama reveals that she and the president have a bedtime ritual.

We have a ritual where he tucks me in, because I’m usually in bed before anybody. He’ll come and turn the lights out and give me a kiss and we’ll talk. He’s like, “Ready to be tucked?” I’m like, “Yes I am.”

If you happened to be away from your computer or CNN last night then you missed Hilary Rosen’s now controversial comment about Ann Romney. Mitt has used his wife Ann to strategically deflect criticism from his problematic positions and comments on women’s rights. Beyonce writes open letter to Michelle Obama

On her new Tumblr, Beyonce posted a handwritten letter to First Lady Michelle Obama. In the letter, Beyonce gushes about how proud she is of the First Lady for being the “ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman” and how FLOTUS is a perfect role model for her own daughter.

Beyonce isn’t alone in her love of the First Lady but apparently she missed “First Lady Michelle Obama Appreciation Day” that we had here at Feministing back in February. The Feministing Five: Zerlina Maxwell

If you haven’t noticed, we’ve had quite a few new additions to the Feministing crew over the past year. Zerlina Maxwell, who also writes for Ebony, The Grio and Loop 21, is one of these new contributors. When she’s not writing her amazing commentary on the presidential debates and much more for this site, she also attends law school at night.

American Grown: Michelle Obama’s New Book

Yesterday, Crown Publishers (a Random House imprint) announced their newest title, American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools, and Communities by First Lady Michelle Obama. The book will be on sale nationwide on April 10, 2012.

This book is Mrs. Obama’s first, and her goal is to use the story of the White House kitchen garden. She will continue her quest for Americans to understand how increased access to healthy, affordable food can promote better eating habits and improve health of families and communities across America.
