Reason #11 to GOTV: Fuck voter suppression

Voter suppression tactics disproportionately affect people of color, women, trans people, young people, the elderly, and poor people. And it’s really bad out there today. “We are seeing a manifestation of a new Jim Crow in America…I don’t think that’s an overstatement.”

Reason #8 to GOTV: Imagining a Romney Supreme Court is actually terrifying

These nine people hold a lot of power. The next president will likely get to appoint one or more new judges–which will shape the legal landscape for generations to come. Under Romney, it wouldn’t be pretty.

Reason #5 to GOTV: Joe Biden is a national treasure

He’s been a long-time women’s rights advocate and he recently said that trans discrimination is the “civil rights issue of our time.” (Plus, he isn’t afraid to straight-up laugh at the Romney/Ryan platform.)

Reason #4 to GOTV: You like your no-copay birth control

Ryan says it would “be gone” on “day one.” (I don’t know about you, but he’s getting this IUD outta me over my dead body.) Incidentally, the contraception mandate alone should probably earn Obama a “pro-life prize” for preventing so many abortions.

Reason #3 to GOTV: Obama has been pretty good to us

His first term hasn’t been perfect, but there’s no doubt that President Obama has gotten some important things done. From signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act to passing health reform to standing strong on no-copay birth control, he’s done enough for women that when he says he cares about gender equality, you believe it. Romney, on the other hand, sounds like he’s full of crap.
