The Feministing newsletter delivers news, analysis, and snark to your inbox, keeping you up-to-date and informed on feminist happenings and ways to take action. We know Feministing is more than a website — it’s a community — and we’re working to make some big improvements to our newsletter so that it’s the best it can be for our community.

We’re taking our bi-weekly newsletter to once a week and adding new insider-y goodness. Courtney Baxter, who puts together the Weekly Feminist Reader, will also be compiling feminist highlights to share from around the web. Newsletter subscribers will also receive advance invitations to in-person Feministing meet-ups and other exclusive content. Feministing is 10 years old!

Happy birthday to us!

Feministing turned 10 this Saturday, April 12, a real milestone for any website. We’re so old our first site was on Movable Type. We’re two years older than Twitter, and Facebook only beat us by a couple months. We can’t wait to start the 5th grade this fall!

Feministing’s come a long way in the last decade. Jessica and Vanessa Valenti originally founded the site because of a lack of spaces dedicated to young feminist voices. Since then, the feminist internet has grown into a political and social force to be reckoned with. And Feministing has evolved as well, from a scrappy web log to the most widely read feminist publication of all time with a large and diverse roster of brilliant ...

Happy Birthday Suzanna!

Today is Suzanna’s birthday!

Suzanna Bobadilla is our new interviews contributor. She’s been posting great conversations, including ones with Samantha Geimer, author and the woman caught in the firestorm of the Polanski rape case, writer and organizer Suey Park, Senator Gretchen Whitmer, Sunny Clifford, the subject of Young Lakota, Anna Saini from The Red Umbrella Diaries, planetary scientist Sara Seager, Law and Order: SVU star Mariska Hargatay, and our former Executive Editor Samhita.

Suzanna’s also one of the badass organizers working to end campus sexual assault who have gotten the federal government, including the White House, to take action.

Here’s some fun facts about Suzanna: ...

Bring Feministing to your campus for Women’s History Month!

Feministing is currently in the middle of our fifth annual speaking tour, when we travel to colleges and community centers to talk feminism, organizing, and blogging with students, activists, and professors. Our busiest month of events is always March, which is Women’s History Month,  And we want to make sure you get a chance to bring Feministing: Offline and Unfiltered to your school.

As we approach Feministing’s 10th anniversary in April, we’re asking ourselves questions about the state of feminism: how has the movement changed over the past decade, both online and off? What’s next for the feminist internets? What we can do to keep building power and winning feminist victories? We can talk about a bunch of topics we’re engaged in, ...

Welcome Katherine!

I am beyond excited to welcome Katherine Cross as our newest guest writer. I’ve been a fan of Katherine’s nerdy brilliance for a while. She’s had writing at Feministing before, but now she’ll be joining us on a more regular basis. Here’s some more info about her:

Katherine Cross is a pizza loving feminist sociologist, trans Latina, and amateur slug herder, working on her PhD at the CUNY Graduate Centre. When she’s not studying or gaming she can be found at the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. Her blog can be found at quinnae.com and her writing has also appeared in Women’s Studies Quarterly, Bitch Magazine, Questioning Transphobia, and Kotaku. She is a co-editor of the Border House.

Please join me and ...

Happy Birthday Sesali!

Today is Sesali’s birthday!

Sesali and I first met early on in our national organizing days, and you don’t even know how excited I was when she rocked our contributor contest in 2012. In addition to her role as a Contributor at Feministing, Sesali is a National Campus Organizer at Planned Parenthood – she was on the ground in Albuquerque to help defeat their 20 week abortion ban this November.

Sesali’s always bringing the brilliance and visionary, original thinking to our blog. I love talking about social justice issues through a pop culture lens, and so does Sesali: she’s used Scandal to talk about trafficking tropes and respectability politics, called out American Horror Story: Coven‘s approach to race, and got deep about Beyonce’s ...

Thank you for funding Feministing #TimesTen!

We did it! Our Kickstarter campaign ended last night, with 1,037 of you contributing to Feministing #TimesTen for a funding total of $38,958. With this money we’ll be able to relaunch the site, build the groundwork to make Feministing sustainable, and start to pay our whole crew for their hard work.

Big thanks to our incredible Fundraising Advisory Board who helped us put this campaign together and provided so many of the amazing perks. And thanks to the whole Feministing crew for all your tireless work throughout this campaign.

And of course thank you so much to everyone who donated! We’re so grateful for all your support. In addition to contributing, thank you for tweeting, facebooking, and telling your friends ...
