The Academic Feminist: Zala Žbogar

Welcome back, Academic Feminists! Today is the final installment of our student series, where undergraduate and masters students discuss their work on gender and sexuality. Today’s interview is with Zala Žbogar.

Zala is a recent graduate of the Mst in Women’s Studies at the University of Oxford. She holds an MA in International Relations and Spanish from the University of St Andrews. Her previous work has included examinations of post-conflict gender mainstreaming, rape in the military, and sex work. Tweet her @blablazala with any questions or comments!

Welcome back, Academic Feminists! The final two interviews in our Academic Feminist Student Series feature masters students who work on gender and sexuality themes. In addition to highlighting some pretty amazing work, these interviewees also offer some advice for those who might be making the transition to graduate school this fall (or who may be considering it!) The Academic Feminist: Sarah Scalise

Welcome back, Academic Feminists. Today we are happy to present Sarah Scalise, the next interviewee in our students series. This series features the work of college and masters students whose final projects/theses focus on gender and sexuality issues.

Sarah Scalise graduated from Shimer College in May 2014. She currently resides in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago with her feline partner—Dustin Hoffcat. While taking a break from higher learning, Sarah leads a Girl Scout Troop, provides childcare for a neighborhood of vibrant & curious girls, rides her bike, and binges on Netflix. Future plans may include writing steamy poetry about feminist icons or re-reading the entire Harry Potter series.

The Academic Feminist: Student Series, Part II with Peter Rydzewski

Welcome back, Academic Feminists, to the second in our series of interviews with students about their college theses or final projects. Today’s column features the work of Peter Rydzewski. A recent graduate of The College at Brockport, SUNY, Peter will be attending a PhD Program in Sociology at the University of Maryland beginning in the fall. He is broadly interested in studying patterns of inequality that are negotiated between the workplace and home, primarily those rooted in discussions of gender and sexuality.
