This same cave man even said earlier today that you can’t say, “I’m personally pro-life but I think the government should stay out of it.” “That’s not pro-life, that’s trying to have your cake and eat it too,” he said. Women whose lives are in danger because of a pregnancy deserve to choose to live. [...]

About the Planned Parenthood article: The gov’t and the House of Reps says that they’re doing it to help save the economy. Why is it that whenever there’s some sort of problem and the gov’t has an idea to try to solve it, women’s rights are almost always the first to go? Can’t they find [...]

    Hi Jessica!

It’s so sad to hear that you’re leaving Feministing.com. :-( But still, best of luck in your future, and we all wish you loads and loads of happiness and success! And keep writing!

    Bye,
    Kimberly

  • It just makes me sick that according to people and groups like this, the rights and well-being of a potential life (the fetus) trump those of an already-existing one (the mother). It’s as if the mother’s life and health don’t matter as much, if at all. I understand that most anti-choice groups want to look [...]

Stay healthy. Not lose weight, but just stay healthy. Oh, and also to treat others with more respect.

Happy (belated) New Year to everyone @ Feministing!

  • Good for him!

Palin is, not a FEMinist, but a FAUXminist. (Pardon my lame play on words). “Patriarchal feminism”? Sounds moronic AND oxymoronic to me.

    Hey,

Hope you all had a fun Thanksgiving! Oh, and by the way, what’s an erf?

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post PETA’s latest sexism: “Be Proud of your Body Scan: Go Vegan”   3 years, 11 months ago · View

As if we need yet another one that passes us and our bodies off as things to be ogled. Those airports were right in refusing to show them. And just a personal thing–I know this has nothing at all to do with the discussion on how this ad is sexist–but personally I could never go [...]

I guess, as Jessica Valenti said in Full Frontal Feministing (as you can see, I just love quoting this book!), it’s because they (the pro-choice orgs) are too busy using their time and money to help women.

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post Fight Choice. Cause Babies Are “Born To Ride”   4 years ago · View

I didn’t even think of that! Fancy that.

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post Access to safe and clean water is a fundamental human right   4 years ago · View

I remember having read an article once about a group in Latin America that pretends to sell bottles of dirty water to passers by. It’s in order to raise awareness about countries that need clean water. While reading this post, I thought back to that article. I wish I remembered what that group was, called, [...]

“…what exactly does that make her?”

    I’d say a fauxminist–a fake feminist.

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post Palin want a cracker?   4 years ago · View

Unless it’s an attempt to take the sting out of the word, like what some people do with terms like “slut,” “skank,” etc.? But in my own personal opinion, those words are hurtful and misogynistic no matter what. Same for cackle.

“I’d suggest she take a course on Feminist history, but she’d never enroll.”

As I said above, I’d suggest she read FULL FRONTAL FEMINISM and take some Women’s and Gender Studies courses. I highly doubt she’d do those, either.

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post Palin want a cracker?   4 years ago · View

She’s definitely not getting MY vote in 2012….

  • Kimberly commented on the blog post Palin want a cracker?   4 years ago · View

Agreed. She calls herself a feminist yet she and her fellow “Momma Grizzlies” are anti-choice, anti-birth control, anti-comprehensive sex education, and anti-VAWA. I also read on another link on this site that she’s also anti-gay. If she were truly feminist, she’d realize that the mistreatment and oppression of gays reinforces the mistreatment and oppression of [...]

“Keep failin’, Palin”–I like it! :-)

  • And as Jessica said in her book “Full Frontal Feminism”, people like that just want to make sure that women aren’t having sex, and if we are, we’re ‘punished’ with pregnancy and/or diseases. Even if it was without consent. It’s unfair, not to mention cruel. if you ask me.

  • “I’m continually frustrated by the Catholic Church’s unwillingness to accept the reality that contraception and condoms save lives.”

    Agreed.
