When I interviewed my mom about food and her life, she spoke at great length about growing up in the depression and living on a farm. She also related a great deal about her mother’s life and how poverty caused her mother‘s family to starve. Furthermore my mother’s socialized belief was that men [...]

A woman speaking on a Sunday morning Fox news channal stated ” In our Post Feminist World ………”
I think my head spun around 3 times, by the time the nausua was over I missed the rest of the story… What world is this woman living in??? IF anyone else say this news clip I think we need to take up a collection and send her a few of the books and news clippings concerning our on=going feminist movement ;; maybe even get enough money together to send her to a few gender and woman studies seminars

The Personal is Political For years I accepted the diagnoses of Mental Illness. The actual diagnosis is not relevant to why the diagnosis existed. I spent years in therapy and sedated by medications to control everything my emotions to my behaviors. I write the story because the cause began at an early age for me [...]

There has been something that has been bothering me for awhile now, sometimes I can let it go sometimes it catches in my throat and won’t let me swallow. It chokes me and I find myself wondering if anyone will ever get it. If there will ever be a moment when it clicks in the [...]

Who dare? Who dare to take my dream away? Who was the one who took away, my reality, my sanity? Was it the older boy, who chased me around the tree, grabbing touching and fondling me? Or was it the one who placed on me a golden wedding ring? Was it the police who sent [...]

This poem has some extremly strong content, written during a time in my life when I was being phyically, emotionally and mentally abused by my significant other. This was a time when it was socially unacceptable to be divorced in the small agricultural community I came from.It has been well over 25 years since I [...]

Hi Everyone; Every once and awhile I decide I need to step out of my comfort zone and do something that is difficult to do. Doing things like speaking out at the “Take Back the Night” annual celebration or journeying on to a stage at a mamapaloza event, and reading at the poetry jam. These little exercises [...]
