That chart is very misleading for the data about Canada. We actually get a full year of maternity leave, which can be split between two parents (of any gender) but the salary is not all paid by an employer. The rest is covered by Employment Insurance (EI) from the federal government. In most cases mothers take one year to care for infants. Adoptive parents get a bit less time.
I think this is a terrible ad, with a confused message, and undoubtedly offessive to many, but I found this article interesting:
Both the salon owner and the ad creator speak about their intensions and own history with abuse.

I understand you’re trying to express enthusiasm, but with all due respect, it isn’t okay to steal from artists or encourage others to do so. If you need the sweater, commission Kathleen Hanna to make you one.
