I’m a thirty-something, married mom of three, and through a great deal of profound research and reflection I have finally discovered an important fact about myself: I’m a feminist and I always have been! Like many women of my age, I shied away from the F-word because of all the negative and manifestly untrue connotations the male-dominated media complex assigned to all things “feminist.” I believe that being a feminist is the ultimate act of humanism…standing up for the rights and freedoms of ALL people. What’s good for women is always good for society as a whole. Feministing has played a huge role in my journey of self-discovery, as have the writings of many feminist authors, especially Jessica Valenti. Their words literally set me free!
