I’m so happy feministing is doing this. I love this show and I love this website- it’s too perfect. And I’m actually shocked that you all are the first ones I’ve seen to mention the sketchy scene of Don forcing Megan down. That was really unsettling and unexpected when I saw it. I couldn’t believe [...]

I relate to your feelings of repeatedly going over social issues in your head. I also relate to regressing into a very black and white view of the world without really meaning to. The problems of the world seem so large and omnipotent sometimes that they begin to seem impossible to deal with. I like [...]

Woah… woah. First off- it’s not her “job” which she was “hired to do.” It’s an extracurricular activity at a public school which she is a part of. She owes the school nothing. In fact, just the opposite is true. And- really? You’re giving her a dilemma of “cheer for your rapist” or “stop doing [...]

Jenny commented on the blog post No, posting a fruit in your status does not raise awareness for breast cancer. 2 years, 1 month ago · View
“If men don’t understand you are raising awareness, than 49% of the population has no clue what is going on.”
Indeed! It sort of defeats the purpose of “awareness-raising” when one *intentionally* obscures the message to exclude a significant portion of the population.

In your first paragraph, you described a thong marketed to children that says “tee-hee” on the butt and a shirt that says “Why do I need brains when I have these?” First of all, we can see where A+F’s moral compass is: NOWHERE to be found. As if a thong marketed at children wasn’t enough- [...]

Thank you for covering this. I am very proud that folks in Kansas are getting together to rally in Topeka. Unfortunately, I have the flu and will not be able to make it. But my goodness, will I be sending emails from my laptop like none other!
This is infuriating!!!

I totally agree about the song Oasis. 100%. I could say the same words you just said except I was a teenager at the time- not a young girl and I thought the video was fitting and had an important message. People often think that the song is treating rape as if it were not [...]

Jason Webley’s is a bit more serious and heartfelt:

Yes, I thought so as well. “Acknowledge” is definitely the word of choice. I’m hoping she has plans to continue the project with Jason Webley as …. “Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley.” Time will tell, I suppose. I always knew she was somewhat of a narcissist/exhibitionist/shock-ey person but this is all still very disappointing especially [...]

My point in bringing up Naomi Wolf is that her position on the recent Assange controversy does not diminish the value of her books (i.e. feminists are not having metaphorical Beauty Myth book burnings because of what she said recently). In the same way, the recent Evelyn Evelyn controversy does not diminish the value of [...]

hmm.. Well, this is actually news to me. I didn’t know anything about all that controversy. So, I read a little about it. I had known that Jason Webley and her were collaborating on a project, but did not know the nature of it. To preface, I have been a fan of Amanda’s since her [...]

Is it truly this big of a deal? I don’t think it’s “mindless, sheepish, and ignorant” to re-post a silly little internet meme on a silly mindless website. Stupid? Pointless? O.K. But “mindless, sheepish, and ignorant”? That’s a little much, a bit harsh. This whole blog could have said, “Breast cancer awareness month ‘I like [...]

You know what this song kinda reminds me of? And it might be in bad taste but… “Eeeevery sperm is sacred! Every sperm is good! If a sperm get’s wasted, God gets quite irate!” And I completely concur with chelsa’s comment: “This guy might as well have written a song called “Dear mom, thanks for [...]
