Audio Smut is a sex positive, multi-media collective who aim to bring the presence of marginal voices to traditional media. We do this through creating and documenting compelling and intriguing stories. Our podcast has been established for the past five years and downloaded by 20,000 people but we are looking to widen our listenership and [...]

Audio Smut Audio Smut is a sex positive radio project run by a feminist collective of extremely creative, intelligent, and hilarious women. I hopefully (crossing fingers) will be collaborating with these women in near future. I thought that the Feministing Community should be aware of their existence. Click, listen, dim the lights, grab a lover, and [...]

*slight trigger warning* Let me preface this story by revealing that I am a virtually unemployed, newly published writer who spends most of my non working time emailing resumes, reading, writing, and trying not to stare at the TV all damn day. Mostly, I just end up angry and depressed with this looming image of [...]

Calm down. It doesn’t make you a hypocrite, you just changed your mind. It would be a whole different thing if you started a “No Babies” society, raised funds, and then supported legislation to talk women out of having more babies. But you didn’t. You just met the right person and fell in love and [...]

Hey thanks! It’s a small publishing company, so for now it’s mostly online at Amazon, desperanto.com, and barnesandnobles.com. I’m working to get it into independent bookstores around the country. It’s also available for your Kindle, if you have one.

Hey to the community! My name is Meg. I’ve been a long time reader and sometimes contributor to this amazing online community of  thinkers, organizers, and otherwise all around amazing women. I recently published my first book of poetry, prose, and short stories entitled “FFing”, which stands for “Flirty Fishing” and NOT “Fist F***ing”. The [...]

I can’t fully express right now all the reasons why this article in my local "alternative" newspaper rubs me the wrong way. It’s too early in the morning for me to give the complete analysis that it deserves. (Those of you in different time zones, have at it.) Pushing the idea that all a rebellious teenage girl in [...]

  • meggyb wrote a new blog post: The Difference Between a Compliment and a Catcall   5 years, 5 months ago · View

This hit me just the other day. I’ve always rejected the notion that women should enjoy catcalls, that it’s a healthy boost of self-esteem, that it isn’t a “real” problem. What exactly is the qualitative difference between a honk or a rude gesture and a genuine compliment? I could never really put my finger on it [...]

  • meggyb wrote a new blog post: Elementary Dating   5 years, 7 months ago · View

I was watching the news in Dallas last night, and I saw a segment about a nine year old boy named Alex Greven who wrote a book about dating called "How to Talk to Girls." What initially caught my attention was not that a 9 year old boy is being touted as a dating guru, but [...]

I met Meg this weekend at the Omega Institute and she was badass–doing all sorts of amazing activism in Dallas. For those of you who couldn’t make it, I thought her summary was really beautiful. Next year’s conference is on intergenerational dialogue and feminism and I’ll be helping with the programming. Hope to see you ALL [...]
