Perhaps my response will help you better understand:
Thank you, Prudence, for personally making me feel like because I decided to drink alcohol, I deserved for someone to force their penis into my vagina against my will. You know, we wouldn’t be under THREAT FROM MEN WHO RAPE US if we never left the house either. Now that I think of it, maybe even some kind of covering of the face or body would do the trick. Take a women’s studies class before you write, please. All you have accomplished is the same old victim-blaming, slut-shaming behavior that puts us all in danger in the first place. I don’t care if I was drunk, high on bath salts, naked, my legs in a pair of stirrups, in the middle of an all-male audience, gyrating grotesquely. IT. IS. MY. BODY. AND. I. CAN. DO. WHAT. I. WANT. WITH. IT. Stop trying to find ways to tell us not to get raped and instead focus on the CRIMINAL. THE RAPIST. Tell him NOT TO RAPE. Tell him not to drink since, as you so effectively point out, alcohol is prevalent in so many rape cases. How can you not see that you have put 100% of the responsibility on the woman in this equation, when the males are the perpetrators of the crime. Your double standardization is sickening. If I was robbed, are you going to ask me what I had to drink that night? If someone hit-and-runs my car on the street, will you demand to know why I was driving alone in a short skirt? Surely, you can see the absurdity in these ideas . . . so why can’t you see it in your own article? Rape is a crime that is NEVER the fault of the raped, but always the fault of the rapist. It is both infuriating and insulting that you need to be told this as an adult with a functioning brain. Women like you make me sob. Not cry, not weep, but sob. YOU. SHOULD. BE. ASHAMED.
ps I hope that you behave like a good girl, not a disgusting irresponsible slutty whore who drinks enough to achieve intoxication, so that you never find yourself with your arms pinned down, with a man whispering he knows how much you want it (or you wouldn’t have had that third sangria, now would you have?), with hot tears burning your cheeks, running over his hand that will leave bruises on your face from where he covered your mouth, with an unfamiliar penis being painfully inserted into your vagina, feeling it, smelling it, hearing the sounds, as he rips into the most private part of your body OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again . . . thinking to yourself, this is all my fault. Clearly, right?
Hopefully, you’ll never make a single mistake. But if you do, at least you’ll know who to blame.
