    How does doing what’s expected of her, becoming Mrs. Hisname, help matters? It does not subvert what society expects of a married woman; it reinforces it. Are you saying that a marriage is more valued if a woman changes her name?

    It’s not subversive for her to call the tour “The Mrs. Carter Show”. It would be subversive for her husband to call his next tour “The Mr. Knowles Show”.
