Thank you so much for this post, I feel like a little weight has been lifted. This needed to be said.

  • This article totally hits the nail on the head about what this was – it was rape, but our understanding of what rape is is so broken right now that we don’t really have the words to express it accurately, which basically explains everyone’s different perspectives in the comments here. I think the way they [...]

I feel like this is kind of liberal use of the “LGBT” acronym – nobody’s even talk about trans* issues with regard to the boy scouts which is a shame since girl scouts have not only supported and included gay people, but all female-identifying queers.

Your claim that women cannot simultaneously be mothers and feminists is extremely problematic. Just because a society pushes women to believe they are born into a specific role does not mean they should ALL reject that role. Many women aspire to be great mothers, and whether or not it’s a result of society, it is [...]

Transcript! Saldana: When was it that this decision was made where I was gonna be told that I have an equal participation in life – of rights and ideals and everything, but in reality I wasn’t going to be allowed to exercise them all. You know like, when I – to me what hurts me is the [...]

I can see where the criticism of what she said is coming from, but I do think it’s absolutely ridiculous that contraception is the main topic of focus in a PRESIDENTIAL election. It IS an important issue, but right now it’s being used as a distraction from any other conversation about the presidential debate, and [...]

  • Maya commented on the blog post Is Facebook enabling eating disorders?   2 years ago · View

This seems like a pretty one sided view of the issue. I think the problem has more to do with the fact that upon seeing pictures of themselves, young women are constantly holding themselves up to impossible standards and comparing themselves to their friends. The Facebook photo posting phenomenon definitely represents the way our culture [...]

I can see the point of this but I still feel like it’s the wrong move. I realize that in reality that always acting on principle sometimes won’t work, but I feel like this does more to fuel the argument that feminists are out to take away men’s rights than anything else. I would support [...]
