”Guess what. Many of us are big fat fatties because we were taught that if we dieted we’d lose weight.”
Can you explain this sentence? If fat people aren’t fat because they eat more than they work off, then why are they fat? I’m genuinely interested. I feel like there is a major division with regard to the science harnessed by the anti-obesity people on the one hand (fat is harmful, fat people don’t practice good nutrition) and many of the feministing readers and contributors on the other (nutrition and fat are not correlated and fat is not necessarily unhealthy). The anti-fat science is what I’ve always been taught, so I’m really curious to know what about it is wrong because clearly you disagree with it.
