    Very interesting and I too thought that any claim white women with blonde hair or blue eyes are inherently/objectively attractive has got to be (a) inaccurate, as people are attracted to many different types of humans and (b) massively loaded, as the author of the post clearly explains.     Although I haven’t read this case, it strikes me immediately that any argument you tried to run based on the n word being reappropriated/a term of endearment wouldn’t make much sense in the context of a reprimand, where the obvious connotation would be that it is a insult, an attempt to demean. So whatever you think about the wider implications of this ruling; in this kind of case I could readily accept that it is inappropriate. Having said that, judging context can be difficult, and I would always argue that it’s better just to refrain completely from using a word that is potentially offensive, especially in a work environment.

    I don’t think it’s even necessary to use the word “domestic.” Terrorism within national borders has long been called just that (e.g. in Ireland, Spain). “Domestic” makes it sound somehow less serious (and maybe even has gendered connotations?!).
