I’m currently beginning a project about feminist blogging about pop culture (broadly defined), and thought that the Feministing community would be a great place to post my query/reach out to fantastic feminist bloggers… I’m currently circulating a questionnaire to those involved in feminist cultural critiques and blogging, and would be very glad to have your [...]

Thanks so much for your comment–I can definitely remember that kind of pressure in high school–the sense that having a boyfriend was always better than not having a boyfriend, even you weren’t actually interested in the boy in question, it was still better to have a boy, any boy, on your arm. One of the things that I love about SATC is the way that it takes one of the very fundamental assumptions of our [...]

Thank you so much for your comment – I think your point that women are often criticized and denigrated if they’re interested in fashion is a great one. Somehow, for men to (stereotypically) be interested in things like sports or cars doesn’t make them any less serious, intellectual, or worthy of respect, but if a [...]

So I’ve recently started a blog deconstructing Sex and the City from a feminist perspective –going back to re-watch the entire series (and sigh, both of the ghastly movies, as well) to reflect on what the SATC universe had/has to offer (and in which ways it violently and painfully offends) The Feminist of Today. And in re-watching the series, I’ve (inevitably, [...]
