Dove is owned by Colgate-Palmolive. So long as Palmolive is making these other soaps and creams I have an awfully hard time believing they really want everyone to “Respect their bodies”:

I like creepy dolls, and art involving creepy dolls–sure it’s been done quite a bit, but I still like it. However I’m not now and never will be an anti-choicer, that’s just something that is not in my capacity to drive my personal autonomy off a cliff over.

Jenny Gonzalez-Blitz commented on the blog post The Wednesday Weigh-In: Are female bloggers more ‘positive’ and ‘happy’? 3 months ago · View
I’m a sardonic temperamental person by nature, it probably reflects in my blogging. Which is not to say it isn’t good to have a balance between happy and other tones—shouldn’t that depend on the topic you’re writing about at the moment? It’s actually sort of funny that the most recent thing I’ve posted is entitled [...]

Smiley: 1. Females are judged first and foremost by their physical attributes. Yes and no. If yes, then so what? So are men, and no one complains about it. Men just accept it and get on with their life. Actually, to believe that men are judged by their physical attractiveness first, foremost, and to the same [...]

Continuing with the Blog For Mental Health Pledge 2013, here’s an encounter concerning depression, stigma, and seasonal-affective disorder:

Hmm, no, that doesn’t meet our dietary restrictions. But we think it’s Lupercalia anyway (NSFW). Figure a sexually-charged Pagan rite will be tons more entertaining than whatever Hallmark or Kay Jeweler’s is telling people they should be doing anyway.

So, seriously, this feminist blog is pro-Putin now? Do you know that Nadezdha Tolokonnikova has been hospitalized due to labor ? I know some Feministing posters have implied we should not care about her because she’s married, cisgendered, and childed, but surely you can’t find Putin’s stances on LGBTQ rights progressive, forbidding pride parades, censoring anything viewed as [...]

Yeah, there was a lot that was great then, it’s nice to read an ode like this. I’ll admit though, I never considered who was the “most badass punk chick in the world” — in my mind there’s a whole round table of them and it’s still expanding, but Hanna most definitely sits at it.

I’ve pledged to participate in a “Blog For Mental Health 2013″ project. I don’t know if others on this board may want to participate, it’s an open thing:
http://jennydevildoll.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/blog-for-mental-health-2013/and in the spirit of that my head exploded over the horribly designed new cover for Sylvia Plath’s “The Bell Jar”:

P.S. – this seems awful fixated on who’s a size 8, everyone being tanned(don’t see it) and conventionally pretty…not to split hairs if they are or aren’t, but are size 8 women or tan women somehow not capable of being feminists or deserving of equal rights?

I admire FEMEN’s work in Russia too(along with PR/Voina). The photo’s I’ve seen of FEMAN don’t look like “L’Oreal ads” – they often look fierce (I’d hope those really are chainsaws, especially since I’ve seen footage of them sawing with them.) and in some occasions even connected to something more primally feminine. “I mean who takes [...]

Gaslighting isn’t simply a difference in perception though. It refers to a tactic used by manipulators to specifically create this confusion in their target. It’s the malicious intent that makes it different from an honest misunderstanding.

re: Zooey Daschenel, I think it’s great that she identifies as feminist, I also think it’s possible to be aware someone is a feminist yet still not care for their work, no one’s obliged to like everything. (Bearing in mind I don’t know a whole lot about her other than what I read here, and [...]

Way to miss the point, Y-affiliated name handles. Nice “whut about teh menz” there, especially given the graphic does not specify the gender of rapists in it’s breakdown. Right now I’m listening on the radio how they want to FLOG a 19 year old rape victim in Maldives, (I think they said someone from Feministing [...]

Right, the moment you start legislating what OTHER women are or aren’t allowed to do with their own bodies, you are taking their rights, and are therefore not feminist. As for the tissue-paper thin argument that abortion is the one thing standing in the way of addressing other issues in regards to parenting and feminism, [...]
