Hey Amy, I’m going to have to side with the professor on this one. Why? Well, cuz if we are going to be “honest” here, if doing the actual writing of a book was the *sole* criteria of getting your name on the cover of a book, I hate to break it to you, but [...]

I’d really be interested in learning more about these women’s anti-abortion views. Because from looking at these pictures and whatnot, this does seem like a natural thing to do when you believe that babies are “gifts from God”–dolls that don’t need welfare checks, aren’t disabled, aren’t hungry, won’t go to school, don’t need healthcare etc. [...]

Yeah, I think it was a poor choice on Dodai’s part to frame this as a “uniformity” issue rather than a plain ol’ beauty ideal issue. Cuz that would be boring and not adhere to racist notions about Asians.

That’s great for her, but what most Republicans don’t understand is that many people in America that earn so little money that they do not have the luxury of “getting back” their money from the government. Additionally, it’s much better for *everyone* is BC is accessible as much as possible.

Since the criticism of slutwalk from WOC, I always have a hard time wrapping my head around the issue, but I think your article does a great job of continuing that conversation. More please!!

Someone should ask Mr. Galloway if he would like his partner to ask every time before they stick something up his orifice. I’m sure things like that just don’t “happen.”

If you are interested in becoming a freelance book reviewer, I know that the National Book Critics Circle is always eager for new members! http://bookcritics.org/ Of course, the perks of the members do seem to support the above article–there’s a definite “culture” there that might not appeal to, say, someone interested in reviewing YA books. They also forgot that Britain doesn’t only consist of “Anglo-Saxons” but a variety of races as well. Race is a part of their history just as much as America’s.

Well, I think the question is–what does “passing the megaphone” look like? Does that mean Melinda Gates should appoint a spokesperson? Have a team of spokespersons? Who should these spokespersons be? I also think we need to be aware too that even if she does pass the megaphone, the megaphone may no longer be a [...]

I think a lot of it has to do with money. I have a friend who graduated from college without a job–she was really interested in politics and so I suggested that perhaps she run for office. She spoke to one of her poli-sci professors and he told her that she would need at least [...]

I think the problem is though that with the healthcare law, the government will be paying out subsidies for people to buy their own insurance which people look at essentially supporting abortion and contraception with taxpayer money etc. But at the end of the day, these people don’t care how a person gets contraception and [...]

You should make them wear suits. Blazer, button down shirt and slacks. Some people might still find themselves not work appropriate, but suits can’t be confused with “not professional.” If suits might be too much to ask, perhaps just a button down shirt and a certain type of pants? That way the people you serve [...]

We talk a lot about “safe spaces” in the feminist community, so I find Flanagan’s solution of a safe space interesting. However, she thinks this space is at home. “In many respects a teenage girl’s home is more important to her than at any time,/b> since she was a small child. She also needs emotional support [...]

I walked out the door that morning dressed as Hester Prynne–the heroine of the Nathaniel Hawthorne novel, The Scarlet Letter .
