  • I am completely in favor of more humane treatment of pregnant women in prison. But prison nurseries? Creepy. I just don’t think criminals who are mothers should be treated any differently than criminals that are fathers. Plus I don’t think children should be imprisoned for the sins of their parents.

However, if we replaced the words ”illegal immigrant” with ”immigrant who entered the country illegally” to still retain a meaningful description but remove this so-called bias, have we really changed the tone? The central theme in this debate has to do with their status and whether it should be legalized. If everyone in the country over time switched to using the word ”undocumented” instead of ”illegal”, how long until it assumed the same connotations?
